JONG CROCODILE FARM + BIDAYUH LONGHOUSE
Start your journey to Jong’s crocodile farm, located 20 minutes drive from Kuching Town.
There are huge and deep concrete ponds and natural breeding grounds for the crocodiles to mate and multiply. Visitors are able to gaze at the snapping jaws, cold menacing eyes, sharp pointed teeth and powerful lashing tails of the crocs within short distance yet safe because of the metal fence.
Apart from crocodiles there are also numerous rare species of birds and animals found only in the Borneo Island.
Then, continue to Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse.
Annah Rais is one of the few surviving Bidayuh (formerly Land Dayak) longhouses, built almost entirely out of bamboo, and it is certainly one of only a handful that don’t require an arduous trek to get there.
The local people grow traditional hill-paddy along with a few cash crops, and still practice many ancient traditions, including blacksmithing, the crafting of fine musical instruments, and the brewing of excellent tuak (local wine) from rice and a variety of tropical fruits.
